EXPERIENCE
September 2019 - January 2020
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION DESIGNER - DIGITAL SOCIETY SCHOOL - AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS
In this track called Systems for Sharing we worked on technical, digital and social systems. We created proofs of concepts, prototypes and did applied research to support ’Systems for Sharing’ in the light of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. I have been working on the project “Waste Management” within the HvA and UvA campus, whose challenge is to design a product, method or strategy to change the behaviour of students and staff to handle waste more sustainably within the campuses and university facilities. We worked in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team following the basics of SCRUM methodology in combination with the creative design thinking process. Each design sprint I presented updated results of the current project. I have developed the concept, created the prototypes, conducted user testing and art directed Plasticful Foods, an innovative project tackling the plastic pollution problem from a fresh angle. Plasticful Foods is a guerrilla marketing campaign which involves the development of physical and digital prototypes. This project has gained a lot of external recognition and has been selected to exhibit at Milan Design Week 2020.

My main tasks were linked to technical design drawings and to the development of creative concepts for the running projects.

DIGITAL SOCIETY SCHOOL SHOWCASE - STUDIO HVA AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS
January 22nd 2020
During the DSS showcase, I had the opportunity to exhibit the project "Plasticful Foods" I've been working with my teammates during my traineeship as a Digital Transformation Designer for the Systems for Sharing track. Plasticful Food is a speculative design project which draws attention to the amount of micro-plastic people are incidentally eating on a daily basis. The issue of micro-plastic itself, is a waste management problem. Therefore, by drawing attention to the personal problem of micro-plastic consumption (which leads to negative health side-effects that scientists are only now beginning to research and understand), we hope to decrease the psychological distance between the global problem and the audiences everyday behaviours.

Together with my group-project peers I participated in the Design Matters Special program at the Pakhuis de Zwijger on Monday 11 June in Amsterdam, over the role of designers in the creation of 'future-proof' products that stay relevant over time.
Within the context of the theme Value Futures and together with design critic Ed van Hinte we developed scenarios, in which we have investigated how to push the lifespan of products, challenging our addiction for the ‘new’ and bending economic models.
